Commander Thor Martinsen is a Permanent Military Professor assigned to the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey California. He has over 20 years of military experience and has served in key cryptologic, signals intelligence, electronic warfare and information operations assignments ashore and afloat with the United States Navy. He is a senior member of IEEE and Associate Fellow of the Institute for Combinatorics and Its Applications. He is a member of the International Association for Cryptologic Research and his research appears in journals such as Designs, Codes and Cryptography. He is an elected member of the Alpha Chi, Pi Mu Epsilon, Upsilon Pi Epsilon and Eta Kappa Nu academic honor societies and holds graduate degrees in applied mathematics and computer science. He is currently a candidate for the degree of PhD in applied mathematics at NPS. His research and teaching interest are in the fields of cryptography, computer and communications security as well as electronic- and cyber warfare.
