Russell Jay Hendel holds a Ph.D. in analytic number theory from M.I.T. (thesis advisor, Harold Stark) and an Associateship from the Society of Actuaries. His current active research interests include discrete number theory, applications of technology to education and the overlap of art, poetry and mathematics. He also has interests and publications in problem writing, problem solving, curriculum design, actuarial mathematics, and biblical exegesis. He is a frequent contributor to the book review section of the MAA and regularly does journal articles for Mathematics Reviews. He is also an active member of several actuarial committees. He is currently affiliated with Towson University in Maryland.
