Mike Weiner joined the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the Pennsylvania State University, Altoona Campus in 1996. He defended his Ph.D. at Binghamton University (formerly SUNY Binghamton, NY) in 1994 with the thesis Bosonic Construction of Vertex Operator Para-Algebras from Symplectic Affine Kac-Moody Algebras. His Ph.D. supervisor was Professor Alex Feingold.

Before coming to Penn State he worked at the Department of Mathematics at Colgate University (NY) as a Visiting Professor for one year and an adjunct Instructor for one year at Broome Community College (NY).

Currently, Mike Weiner is working in the field of combinatorics, specifically with partial Bell polynomials and linear recurrence sequences.
