The link for the "internal format" is broken in 3 places on this page. I think it should point here: https://oeis.org/eishelp1.htmlSara Billey, 10 April 2013

Also, sequence links like A001006 need to be corrected. Alonso del Arte 03:22, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

Q: Should one specify links to the Index when submitting sequences?

Index is a broken link. — Daniel Forgues 04:33, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

The page has now been unprotected so that these edits can be made. Charles R Greathouse IV 13:11, 11 April 2013 (UTC)
For me, it still shows View source instead of Edit, so I can't edit the page (it must be semi-protected). — Daniel Forgues 06:45, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
You must be right. Sorry. Charles R Greathouse IV 16:01, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
I'll just put further edit suggestions on this Talk page. — Daniel Forgues 20:39, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

I find it more readable when an — precedes the signature and timestamp. E.g. as Signature in User profile in Preferences I have

— [[User:Daniel Forgues|Daniel Forgues]]

which gives — Daniel Forgues followed by the timestamp when I use ~~~~

links to answers

It seems at present not possible to "jump" to the answer of a question: The "Q:"s do have an anchor, but I can't see what it's good for. It would be IMHO extremely more attractive to have that feature (clicking on the question => warping you to the answer), and, it would easy to have both,

  • the whole list of questions automatically sync'd with the list of answers
  • and the links from questions to answers

if they were not hand-made/hard-wired but simply produced by the built-in "table of contents" (TOC) function, by formatting the Questions in the "Answers" section as subtitles.

I don't recall whether it is possible to have two TOC's produced, one "top level" (as now in the blue box), and one with all subsection headings (which would replace the current list of answers. I do know that it is possible to choose the minimal "level" of (sub)sections to display in the TOC (i.e., it is possible to have a TOC which does not list all the subsection headings). But I also don't recall the exact details. I'm sure someone knows better than me, else I'm willing to browse through the documentation to get the answer.

In case I'm not clear: I suggest to add ==== around the questions in the Answers section, then the built-in "TOC" function of the wiki would create the list of questions in the TOC, linked to the answers, so the hand-made list of questions which does not have links would be deleted w/o any loss. That seemed like a good idea; I've made an attempt at it. David Applegate 18:29, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, definitely an improvement, IMHO! (This also allows to edit the page section-wise -- some would indeed merit this, as you said on the list...) MFH 22:33, 9 March 2014 (UTC)

Downloads

The FAQ currently suggests
Or go to the Welcome page, and download the section of the database containing sequences around the one you are interested in (in the lexicographic order), and then you can browse. But beware, those files are all quite large.
but it's not clear how one can "download [a] section of the database". The only mentions of downloading on the Welcome page relate to two videos, not to the database. There are also links to files containing the entire sequence data and sequence names, but that doesn't seem to be what the FAQ is suggesting. Has a feature been removed and the FAQ not updated?
