I was born in 1950 in Roermond in The Netherlands I studied Human Nutrition and Statistics between 1968 and 1976 at Wageningen University I participated in a Poland-NL exchange program for students in 1973 in Warsaw I participated in a USSR-NL exchange program for scientists in 1977 in Leningrad I worked as a biometrician between 1978 and 1981 in Paramaribo at the Ministry of Agriculture in Suriname I worked as lecturer in Human Nutrition between 1981 and 1989 at Wageningen University and at Université d'Abomey Calavi in Benin I worked as a statistician between 1989 and 2006 at Wageningen University, Ministry of Agriculture of Cape Verde and Utrecht University I stopped working in 2007 after diagnosis of a progressive muscular disease I continue to try to better understand what mathematics is.
